1964 Solid Sterling Diablo Barrel Racing Buckle

Bright lights illuminate the arena as the barrels are set up and the crowd eagerly anticipates the first competitor flying down the alley. Fiery hooves thundering across the arena to the barrier, countless hours of practice down to a few heart pounding seconds as the riders hope and strive for the best time of the night.
A circa 1964 Solid Sterling Barrel Racing Buckle by Diablo MFG Co. This nice vintage rodeo piece features intricate etched detail. 3 1/4" by 2 1/4". 74 grams total weight. Marked Sterling and Diablo MFG Co. (The pre 1950 mark without the trident). In very good vintage condition with minor surface wear.
Diablo MFG Co. was founded in 1945 in Oakland Calif. by Clinton Dewitt and Bill Magers. In 1963 Diablo was bought out by Visalia Stock and Saddlery. Prior to 1950 Diablo did not have a trident on its mark, which is the case with this piece. That would indicate that it is a pre 1950 piece engraved at a later date (1964).
